Continental schedule

Maybe someone can offer some advice. I have been taking Continental out of Newark to St. Martin (SXM) for many years. I go at least 3 times a year--so I know their flight schedule.

Now here is my pickle---they now will only fly (starting in the summer-not sure when) on Saturday, Sunday into mid December. This is strange as they use to fly almost daily, even 2 flights on Saturday. Also in slow season
they would fly at least 3 times a week. Last fall they flew 4-5 times a week especially right before Thanksgiving. Is there anyway to find out if they will be scheduling more flights?

A useful tool can be downloaded from their website. (travel center/mobile tools/electronic timetable)

I use the windows version, and they update it when they make scheduling changes and notify me by email that I should update.

I just did a quick look for mid-july and if I recall correctly they have daily flights and two on saturdays. I don't know where you got your information on a change, and certainly they do make changes, but I know of no more accurate source than that program.

Thanks for the tool. I tried to book
on line for our November trip, thats how
I found the new fall schedule. Bummer-and odd.

I think they did the PDF timetable wrong - which only lists the Saturday flight. But if you just search for the flights and fares, the daily flights come out.

I have---trying to book my flight on their
web site, as an elite flier I have done many many times. Trying to book 10 nights in November---11/20 or 11/21 my dates are flexible, returning early December. I get info from site that the flight is only
flying on Sat and Sunday. I got a heads up
from a ST. Martin forum--as ticketed passengers were rescheduled. As I said this is odd, I wonder if they will add
more days in a month or so.

Hm, this sounds like a question to be posted on the Continental forum at flyertalk.com.

Or it may be the case that they really have reduced number of flights - some routes I routinely fly within UShave done that so I have far fewer choices in a day than I did before (although never fewer days) or flights requiring a connection when none was needed before. And even if you had scheduled earlier when more days were available, the airline could always chose to lose those flights at a later date and you would be stuck.

There is likely some less appealing way you can get there with a connection - I fear this may be part of airlines continuing to reduce number of less popular flights.

Example, Continental used to fly to Anchorage, AK in season non-stop and planes were always full. Now you have to change your plane in Seattle. Actually we didn't have to change our plane but waited in Seattle for about one hour before our plane took off. Nothing appealing about traveling this way. So maybe there are less flights to SXM too but at least there are some non-stop left. Good luck
