Annie and others...
When patients ask me where to get glasses (I don't do glasses in my office) I tell them to avoid any place that also sells tires. In my opinion, based on return visits from patients not happy with their new glasses, the department stores, discount clubs, etc. do a poor job and make frequent mistakes. If your ophthalmologist or optometrist sells glasses, consider them. Glasses aren't cheap, but "frills" like UV and anti-glare coatings cost a lot, but provide little. As a matter of fact, I tell people not to get anti-glare coatings because they are very difficult to clean (you need a special cleaning solution - water and soap leave a film) and they tend to break down over time. I get my glasses for free (professional coutesy from local optical shop), and I decline the coatings. |
