Connection time at Hartsfeld-ATL
 

I have to make a connection in Atlanta between a Delta regional flight and my cross continent Delta flight, the day before Thanksgiving. I know, LOL. Can anyone give me an estimate of the most time it should take to make the connection, assuming the planes come in at gates which are as far apart as possible. I have 1 hour and 10 minutes to make the connection, and I am wondering how fast I will have to run, if the arrival in ATL is delayed. (I am totally unfamiliar with Hartsfeld).

I travel through ATL frequently. In my opinion it's a very easy airport to navigate. An efficient train connects the concourses. If your incoming flight is on time, you won't have to run as it should take no more than 20 minutes - leaving time for a bio break, quick snack, etc. Delta operates out of terminals A,B,D,T&E. E is primarily international.

IME getting around the ATL terminal isn't all that hard but getting from the approach pattern to the gate can be a bear!

If you get to your gate on time, I think mjz-kc's estimate of 20 min at most is about right. If you are connecting between two proximate terminals (e.g. A and B) you might find that walking at a brisk clip is quicker than waiting for the train.

The train runs through the center of each terminal. The longest walk(s) you may have to do are if you come in at one end of the terminal and your outgoing flight is at the other end.

Don't worry, I agree with the above post, you should make it with time to spare.

Furthest gate from the train is about 1/4 mile. So, worst case scenario is you have to walk for 1/2 mile and also ride the train for 5 stops.

I agree that it should take about 20 minutes in this scenario.
