Connection Flight in Frankfurt Airport
Hello!
I will be travelling around Europe on March, and the last city I will be visiting is Prague. My flight to Brazil leaves Frankfurt Main at 21:45 on Terminal 1C. I was thinking about getting a flight from Prague to Frankfurt, but the best Option I've found is the Czech Airlines leaving PRA 17:55 arriving FRA at 19:05 (Terminal 2D). Is that enough time to disembark, collect our luggage and check in at the other company? The other option would be buy the earlier flight, leaving Prague at 07:20 and arriving Frankfurt at 08:40 in the morning. I appreciate your help!!! |
I would have booked a multi-city ticket in the first place so your journey home began in Prague which would have avoided the need to collect / recheck luggage.
Personally I wouldn't touch the later flight with a barge pole unless it was as above as if it's delayed / cancelled you have zero chance of catching your onward flight. As it is it's extremely tight as your 2h40m includes the time to get off the plane collect luggage, go to new terminal which could easily take over an hour but you also have to take into account the time check-in closes for your onward flight - as well as going through security. Take a flight the previous day and have a day in Frankfurt |
That's what I thought... But I've bought the tickets from Brazil to FRA without knowing our schedule, it was a really good deal. The thing with good deals is that you have to sor out details like that, right?
I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to spend the day in Frankfurt, since we'll catch a 13 hour flight back home! I could take a private transfer from Prague also, it should take about five hours. Thank you very much for you response!!! |
Not sure why OP says that the "other option would be buy the earlier flight, leaving Prague at 07:20 and arriving Frankfurt at 08:40."
There's a Lufthansa flight that leaves Prague at 14:05 and arrives in FRA at 15:15. Regardless which you choose, you should check with the airline you take from PRG to see if they have an interline agreement with TAM (the airline you're taking to Sao Paolo). If so, you can check your bags through without having to pick them up at FRA, even though you are on separate tickets. |
Why not fly the day before, and have a day to enjoy Frankfurt and not worry about missing your flight? Unsure why a 13 hour flight ahead of you makes a difference as to where you spend your last day in Europe, since you'll be taking it either way?

Thanks for you help DonTopaz, I didn't know about the Lufthansa flight, will take a look on that one!!! I believe Tam doesn't have an agreement with Lufthansa anymore, but I will double check.
Needmorevacation, I already paid for the hotel on Prague, and i always like to take a shower and be as refreshed as possible for long flights. It just helps me to feel more relaxed, which is important on long flights!!! Thanks for our attention anyway! |
