Comfort Economy
 

I am flying from Atlanta to London in October and chose comfort economy seats. That adds $200 to my roundtrip fare. Now I'm wondering if it's worth the extra money. The travel agent said free drinks and priority boarding go with these seats. However, when I flew to Africa this summer on Delta/KLM regular economy I got free drinks anyway.That was a really long flight and the comfort seats would've been nice. Just wondering what others' experiences/thoughts are on this.

You will get free drinks n any cabin -- but being in 'economy plus' gets you extra space and being at the front of the economy section, you get off the plane faster. That can make a big difference on a jumbo getting to immigration ahead of others. If it is only $200 more it would be worth it to me unless that was a budget buster.

I took economy comfort to Venice a few years ago, and it was worth it to me for the legroom alone. It’s not true premium economy so the same seats and early boarding, but that’s all. But for $200 definitely worth it to me.

We always pay for the economy comfort and find it well worth the money. Both my husband and I are tall so the extra leg space is great and early boarding and getting off the plane sooner is also worth it.

I'm flying from San Francisco to London in July and opted for the economy plus seats just for the extra leg room. My originating flight from Honolulu to San Francisco I opted to stay in regular economy for that leg of my flight.

Living in Hawaii you kind of get used to long, cramped flights so the 5-6 hours it takes for us to get to the West Coast doesn't faze me. But the 10 hour flight to London - that one I'm definitely paying for the extra leg room.

It you are over 5'5", it is worth it. There are no additional services that comes with it other than early boarding. When available we take it.

I found the comfort plus seats on a Delta flight from the west coast to Germany was well worth the extra money. I like the extra legroom.

The last two times I flew to Italy with economy plus, that section was not at all crowded, so I had three seats across to myself and actually slept. Totally worth the extra money.

The last time I flew regular economy on a transatlantic flight I couldn't believe how cramped it was. Now we always pay more to get comfort or premium economy on the over-water portion of our trips to Europe -- completely worth the money. I feel it's what regular economy USED to be.

Leg room, yes. Seat width, food, service, baggage allowance, not so much.

Yes for me it absolutely would be worth it--in fact, premium economy is my "floor" for transatlantic travel (coming from the west coast of US). I actually do the credit card mileage hustle to get business, in fact. But a good premium economy product (Virgin Atlantic, possibly Air France) would do as a minimum. ATL to London for $200 extra I would definitely go for it.

Early boarding also means you have space for a carry on bag in the overhead, critical if you do carry-on only.
