Checkmytrip.com

Hi Everyone,

I booked a flight from Melbourne to China last year and my travel agent told me to get my itinerary through Checkmytrip.com
apparently this is common.
What happened though was that the departure time shown on checkmytrip was wrong, and we missed our flight.
I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem?

YOUR travel agent recommended someone else?

Sounds fishy to me. No specifics, no dates, just a diss.

It is common to view your booked itinerary thru checkmytrip or virtuallythere depending on which system it was booked on. I don't see how the info can be wrong as it's taken from the booking. Did a sched change happen since it was booked last year and maybe you didn't view the itinerary more closely to the departure date?

I have never been told to use checkmtrip. If I was using a travel agent I would figure I was paying them to provide a service and they could provide everything I needed.

Maybe what Odin said. I had a recent trip to Thailand and one of the flights was changed but we had a company in Thailand looking after us and they reconfirmed the flight and told us of the change.

I travel once or twice a year on a project where the local organization uses a travel agent to book all flights. Once the flights are booked, the agent sends me the itinerary in an email with a link to checkmytrip. I do examine what is on the site and compare it to what the agent planned. The only difficulty I have encountered is a couple of times the agent showed assigned seats that were not what I was given.

What I try to get the agent to do is to add my FF numbers to the reservations so I can also see my reservations directly with the airlines. I find their sites easier to use. But this would not help if you do not have a FF account with the airline/s.

When an SAS flight changed times earlier this year, the agent sent me an email listing the changes and I also think she sent a charge to the customer for "changing the ticket". I thought that was interesting.
