From US it's ~700BPs and from France it's ~350BPs. Same thing only different.....

I can see raising the price a little for summer travel to Europe, afterall, the airlines want to make money, but they have doubled the price for American's.

No wonder why no one can find a FF seat on an airline. They lowered the price to $700 so the Europeans can get a cheap seat to the U.S.

Well, it really doesn't. It was just a joke. The fact is everything in England costs twice as much as the price says and the American's have to pay twice as much as the British for an airline ticket.

I guess it doesn't bother you at all that American families can't afford to go to Europe for a summer vacation and the airlines would rather fill their planes up with Europeans with half-price tickets.

Personally, if I was about to purchase a ticket to Europe and the price was $1482, and I knew the airline was selling the ticket from Europe to the States for half the price, I would wait to purchase the ticket.

Personally, I think there is some illegal activity with the airlines fixing airline ticket prices.

Has anyone ever tried to purchase a ticket from Point A to Point B and then checked the price from Point B to Point A? Personally, I think it is a good way to tell if you are getting a good deal.

If AF advertises $500 fare to US than the other airlines have to follow, otherwise they will be flying empty. If AA or UA sell US-EU fares at $1500 then the others will take that too.

It's simple economics. It's not rocket scientist stuff. It's called captalism, free market, charge what you can get away with. As long as one airline does not have monopoly on any particular route, the above works.

So, to conclude, your fare comparison actually shows high demand from US to FR and low demand from FR to US.

Exactly. The reason the fare is higher from US is that there are higher demand for Americans to travel to Europe than the other way around. At least in June.

I'm still convinced that I passed on a lot of information that people booking flights from the U.S. to Europe were not aware of.

Unfortunately, AA, you didn't pass on anything to me that I was not aware of. I took a lot of Economics classes in college, so why don't you go back to bashing BA and praising AA.

And to quote a pilot for American Airlines, "would you enjoy your job if your employer reduced your salary, benefits and pension." The next time we fly on a U.S. airline, please think about this when you notice the flight attendants don't seem real friendly.

Selling tickets from Europe to the States at half the price is a poor administrative decision and it is the poor administrative decisions that have caused our airlines financial problems.

If you check www.kayak.com and check prices for these dates, you will see almost airline says "Many seats available."

In the meantime, American's are changing their plans of going to Europe.

I bet the airlines will lower their prices to $500 to fill their flights in late May for June travel.

I've already got my airline ticket to Europe on June 13. I paid $1,900 to fly British Airways Economy Plus and used 30,000 miles to upgrade to Business Class. I will get miles for Economy Plus ticket.

Wally, if you can't face economic reality then it's your problem, not mine. I just tried, in the easiest terms possible, to explain how the system works. Nothing to do with AA, BA or AF.

Once again Wally. Airlines don't just pull fares out of some magic hat. Fares are based on demand and supply. If there is a great demand from one side but not from the other side, then the fares are published accordingly. I was under the impression that this simple economic logic was thought in ECON101, perhaps not in your school of choice.....
