cheap air fare

Hi I'm a 22 year old woman, mother and girlfriend. My daughter is 12 months on May 21st, so she's still pretty new. As u might guess it has put a bit of a strain on my relationship...So to spruce things up a bit I decided we'd go on a cruise to get away from it all and focus on us for a few days. Anyway the cruise is booked and almost fully paid for. The only dilemma is finding really cheap air fare for our budget. We have to get down to Miami from Philly by 2pm or sooner, because the ship leaves @ 4, on the 28th of Aug. and the ship comes back @ 8am on the 31st. I don't want to spend anymore than $300 on our tickets combined (round trip). We could also fly to Ft. Lauderdale instead of Miami (I'll take whichever one is cheaper). If anyone can help me out I will greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

First, unless you absolutely HAVE to go on the day your cruise departs, I highly advise you go the day before.

More people than you'd like to know have missed their cruise departure due to delayed, late or cancelled flights. Weather delays, mechanical problems, etc., can wreak havoc on your plans.

Checking www.kayak.com, expedia.com and travelocity.com, it looks like the cheapest flights are around $200 pp either into Miami or Ft. Lauderdale.

Several different airlines offer flights, so best to see which flight times work best for you.

I would take bettyk's advice.

I saw the $200 airfare on trvelocity. Also offered was an air/hotel package at $460 or so for two. That included nights in a hotel for the whole weekend. I don't know how to get a package for just the one night instead four. It was a Days Inn and the description said they have an airport shuttle and a shuttle to the port on weekends.

Also check carriers like Southwest which don't show up on kayak, etc. Southwest currently has fares for $198 roundtrip from PHL to FLL (Ft Lauderdale).

PS - I really think it's going to be close to impossible to get airfare for $300 for both of you. $99 each way is a very good fare.

Also, if your ship leaves at 4pm, you are NEVER going to make it with a 2pm arriving flight.

Verify the cut off time, some are now two hours prior. Add, time for baggage, transfers, delays, and you better be looking at an 11am or earlier arrival.
