Can I bring a 4oz bottle on the plane?

I know the limit is 3.4 oz, but I have a moisturizer in a 4 oz bottle. Is .6 oz more really going to make a difference and are they going to take it from me?

Yes - TSA could take it from u. or it could be missed.

If it's caught, it will be taken away from you. If it's not caught, then you will be able to skirt the rules. I guess it depends on how expensive and precious the moisturizer is to you. Plenty of companies sell inexpensive 3-oz bottles now so you can avoid this problem by simply moving the moisturizer into a different size bottle. Wal-Mart carries these, as do Kmart and Target and myriad other stores both online and not.

Do you really have to ask?

They might miss it, but the rule is 3.4 oz and they will (and do) take things bigger. Find a travel bottle and move enough for your trip into.

Last week they found me(how did that happen???sigh) with a 4 oz cologne bottle with less than 1 oz in it, she let me keep it

But to be clear, it's the size of the bottle, so your 4 ounce bottle is a violation no matter how much is in it (unless it's empty).

Either you want to respect the rules or you think you are entitled do as you wish.

Very simple. Get yourself a 3 oz bottle (available everywhere -- from Walmart to Target to supermarkets to Nordstrom Rack to luggage shops) and then pour some of your moisturizer in it. A lot better than possibly losing all of it during screening.

Oops - for some reason I didn't see Doug's post --probably just skimmed over it. But yep - that's what to do . . . .

Well it is over the limit and against the rules. 3 oz. is the maximum allowed.

Will they find it? If they do, will they confiscate it or let you keep it? None of us can say.

And besides -how long is the trip? 4 oz is a LOT of moisturizer. 1 oz would be more than ample for a month long trip.
