JFK-PRG-CDG-JFK

Hi
I'd posted this question on the Europe forum, where someone suggested I also try here.

I'm wondering how to get a good air fare
that would be New York City to Prague to Paris to New York City. I'm looking at end of Sept-early Oct. Expedia only had very high fares--$1000 and up, way up. I've seen suggestions for cheapy airlines that fly within Europe like ryan or volare, but they don't seem to cover these cities. Prague seems to be the "problem" in this scenario and it may have to be expendable. (I was recently there for the first time, in cold weather, and was hoping to revisit in warmer weather for 3 days. Paris is an old friend.)
Any suggestions?

Here is a suggestion. The follwing is an open jaw ticket on British Airways. From New York to Prague and from Paris to New York.

Total price for this trip: $635.50

1 Review the flight details

Tue 21-Sep-04

New York (JFK)
Depart 7:00 pm
Terminal 7 to London (LHR)
Arrive 7:05 am +1 day
Terminal 4 3458 mile(s) (5565 km)
Duration: 7hr 5mn

Flight: 174

Economy/Coach Class, Meal, Boeing 747-400

London (LHR)
Depart 8:50 am
Terminal 1 to Prague (PRG)
Arrive 11:45 am 637 mile(s) (1025 km)
Duration: 1hr 55mn

Flight: 854

Economy/Coach Class, Meal, Airbus A320

Total miles: 4095 mile(s) (6590 km)
Total duration: 9hr 0mn (10hr 45mn with connections)

Tue 5-Oct-04

Paris (CDG)
Depart 12:25 pm
Terminal 2B to London (LHR)
Arrive 12:45 pm
Terminal 4 220 mile(s) (354 km)
Duration: 1hr 20mn

Flight: 309

Economy/Coach Class, Snack, Airbus A320

London (LHR)
Depart 4:05 pm
Terminal 4 to New York (JFK)
Arrive 6:45 pm
Terminal 7 3458 mile(s) (5565 km)
Duration: 7hr 40mn

Flight: 115

Economy/Coach Class, Meal, Boeing 747-400

Total miles: 3678 mile(s) (5919 km)
Total duration: 9hr 0mn (12hr 20mn with connections)

Then you could buy a seperate round trip ticket from Prague to Paris with the outbound on the date you need and the return on any date a week or so later on Czech Airlines which is pricing out around $175 on Expedia. You will use the outbound portion and throw away the inbound.

The total cost around $810.

Like others have said in the Europe forum, your best bet is a ticket on Air France. Either as a JFK-PRG with a Paris stopover, or as JFK-CDG with a CDG-PRG add on.

It's hard to search for open-jaw tickets on the online booking sites, and they often can't get you the best options. You should just call up Air France, or find a travel agent, to find out which gives you the best fare.

It's not that complicated. No matter what, your best route will likely be JFK-CDG-PRG-CDG-JFK.

HI
I was hoping to start my trip in Prague and end it in Paris, even with layovers, (just because that will be a shorter homeward-bound trip to the eastern US) but we can't always get what we want. I'd wanted the P and P combo but will look into a combo of Prague and perhaps an Italian city.
Food for thought, thanks

thanks for the info

elaine,

I just presented the trip just the way you want for about $810.

Sep21* JFK-LHR-PRG (ARRIVING NEXT DAY)
Sep?* PRG-CDG
OCT?* CDG-LHR-JFK
*=choose different dates

You could play with the dates, still a good fare for what you want.

What part of the plan you didn't like?

hi, yes, you do good work, "you're hired!"
I was hoping not to have a layover on the way home, but obviously compromises have to be made if I'm going to make this particular trip
thanks again for your help

I didn't mean anything by my last remark. Just wanted to know.

If you can't use it that's fine.

Good luck!
