British Airways DFW-LHR-CDG
We are leaving Oct. 24 to Paris via DFW-LHR-CDG on BA. We have pre reserved seats (econ). I have been watching the on-line seating chart to see how full the plane is. It has not changed for about a week. My question is, how often do they update reserved seats and has anyone ever flown this route?? Also, we will being flying AA ELP-DFW. I know we can check our luggage thru to CDG. Can we get boarding passes or should I use the on-line boarding passes?? As you probably can tell it has been some time since we have flown so would appreciate any help. Thanks

You will be able to get your BA boarding passes on line and select your seats on www.britishairways.com at 5:30 p.m. on October 23rd. (If you only have an AA locator, that will work if you enter it into "Manage My Booking.") I think that is an essential task, because the best seats will be snapped up by the time you check in at ELP.
For LHR-CDG you may have to log on again 24 hours before the departure of that flight. (7 hour time difference to ELP?) That will make it possible for you to go directly to the security lines at LHR without another stop at the BA transfer desks. The BA web site has good instructions on transfers and you will be entirely within T5 for your connection. |
Agree with Jeff's comments, but not sure what you mean by "pre-reserved seats". BA doesn't let you pick seat assignments until 24 hours before your flight (unless you're in First or have a zillion miles on their FF program). [You probably have seat assignments on AA from ELP - DFW; but not rest of the trip on BA].
This is why it's important to check in exactly at the 24 hr mark from when flight leaves - so you can hopefully select 2 pretty good seats together. You should be able to get seats for both BA legs when you check in online before the first leg at the 24 hr mark. Our daughter had no problem doing this last month flying on BA from IAH - LHR - ATH. But if not, then follow Jeff's suggestion. |
Jeff801 and dfr4848, Thanks for your help. I had never heard of "pre reserved seats" either so that was a little confusing. I will be counting the minutes on Oct. 23 to get our seats.

My guess is it means you've got a confirmed seat, but no assignment to specific seat until you check in.

I Have preasigned seats on BA Dallas to London. At least they let me choose seats. I thought maybe this was because our reservations were made through a cruise co. But I did choose two seats in a very small book of seats.
