Bought tix now they are cheaper
 

I bought 8 tix from Delta almost two weeks ago. Now the same flight is about 20 bucks cheaper (if I wasn't talking 8 tickets, I wouldn't care, but an extra $160 at Disney would be useful). Am I just out of luck?

When that happens with my tickets,my TravelAgent reissues the tickets without any change in itinerary and issues me a voucher for the difference in fare.There will never be a refund for the difference.But the voucher is good for travel on say Delta for a year.Dont know what to tell you if you bought the tix from a dot.com.

Call Delta, they will probably give you a $20 future travel credit. Unfortunately though, it's probably worthless as the discount can only be applied to the rates over the phone or booked by a travel agent (no internet bookings). Believe me, the airlines have it all figured out. I had a $75 dollar credit once for four people and after I spent 90 mins at the airlinticket counter to get the tkts issued I only saved $30 after the web fare. You can call but most likely it will not be worth it.

P.S. The $20 credit will only be issued in the name of each passenger, they will not credit the purchaser $160.

A couple of months ago, the fare on 2 American tickets I had bought went down. I called them and they credited the difference to the crdit card that I had used to purchase them. This only works, though, if the lower fare is on exactly the same flights as the original fare.

The refund/credit voucher will only be provided if all the other conditions of the original ticket are the same -- meaning if the original ticket was a 21 day advance prurchase (or 14, or 7) the lower fare must match the same criteria (21 day advance, 14 day, etc). So you can't try to get a refund/money back on a 21 day advance when the 14 day advance goes lower.<BR>As the above poster noted, same day, same flight requirement also applies.

I've done this twice - with American. They did credit the difference back. I saved $60 a person on one trip and over $200 a person on another. I did however try to get the difference when I booked with Travelocity - they didn't budge. A good reason to book directly with the airline when possible.<BR><BR>T.

When this happened to my husband and I, US Airways issued each of us a credit voucher in the amount of the difference, good for one year from the date of issue. In my case, it amounted to almost $200 per person, so it was worth investigating. But it was up to me to call and pursue this--it's not something that they advertise. Too bad it's not like Circuit City, where if the price drops within a month from your date of purchase, they just send you a refund check for the difference. Wouldn't that be great?

I have two vouchers from America West Airlines sitting on my desk. (I had two recent flights where the price went down after I purchased the ticket.) The only problems with using them are 1) To use them, they must be redeemed at the airport or at a travel agency... but who wants to pay the TA fee... 2) I don't receive frequent flier miles for the ticket I used the vouchers to pay for; and 3) You can't get the internet fare when you call to ask for a refund. They base the new fare on the fare you get if you call an agent on the phone.

I never would have even tried.<BR><BR>My trip to Paris from KC dropped from $519 to 445 and American Airlines just reissued the ticket.<BR><BR>Because of the added legroom, I have been trying to use American as often as possible.
