Just a one-way air ticket to avoid a time crunch if we take the train -- Haven't booked intra-Europe previously so I don't know what to expect price-wise. Checked Kayak ($430 or so one-way per person) and EasyJet which doesn't go to these spots.

Good call, rkk -- much cheaper ($255 or less per person) -- any advantage to booking now v. later?

when I do this I take the short train to Pisa fly direct on ryanair.com to FRA for as little as $18 booked in advance.
Might check on that always saves me a tonne.

Thanks for the tips -- ryanair only slows a late evening flight, so may have to skip it.

I doubt the fare will go down much if at all.
