best way to transport engagement ring
 

I assume I should just put it in my carry-on, since I would have to empty my pockets and my girlfriend would see it...Is it safe though? I just always think of Meet the Parents

Yes, put it in your carry-on bag. Do not, under any circumstances hide it in your checked luggage.

Not in your pocket, but inside your carryon. She won't see it.

Why would you have to empty your pockets? I have never had to do that at any airport. A ring will not set of metal detector or else everyone wearing a ring would set them off.

That said, in your carryon would be fine.

Put it in your jacket - it has to go through the X-Ray machine and at worst you propose whilst being wanded

Swallow it before the trip.

Put it with a bunch of other lead or steel rings and things and if she happens to see it on the Xray, she won't have a clue what it is.

Punch a hole in your ear (or eyebrow or some other body parts) and wear it on the outbound trip. She won't realize it's for her. :D
