Best Seats in Business?
 

Where's the best place to sit in business class and why? Back? Front? Window? Aisle?

Depends on the airplane & route. My rules are no bulkhead - I like to be able to put my bags under the seat in front of me. As far away from the lav as possible, and on long flights i.e. to Europe, as far away from the galley as possible due to noise. When I want to sleep I prefer window, if I am planning to be awake, I prefer aisle.

If I'm on UAL 747 to NRT/BKK I prefer to be upstairs. I actually like row 11, window, which is at the very front, just behind the cockpit. The lavs are right there, but I really do not get bothered by the noise. I like a seat that has no one in front of me reclining into my space. In the "hump" you can store your carry on bags (small ones) in the storage bin right beside your seat. I also like to prop my feet up on that bin during flight. I'm quite tall and the leg rest doesn't always "fit" me.

It's easy to get in and out of the window seat in row 11 since no one is reclining their seat on top of you.

bulkhead window. It has the least disturbance from the flight attendants and other passengers.

Thanks everyone! I checked seatguru.com and it didn't tell me much, just said which 2 seats to avoid and lumped everything else together. It looks like window is the preference. I usually like aisle in economy but noticed that in business it's not the same. Does the last row usually recline less?

No, the last row does not recline less.

unejam1 - If you want useful answers, you need to give us more info. As others have said, it depends on the plane. Some of us here may have information not on seatguru.com.

As others have mentioned, it depends on the specific airline and aircraft type. It's impossible to answer what seat is best without knowing those factors.

The best seat is the one that gives you the most choices for dinner. The attendant starts at one end of the cabin, and the people at the other end usually have fewer choices, as some of the entrees are gone.

I think it varies among airlines, and among flights. One airline starts at the front on eastbound, and at the back on westbound, or vice versa.

Oh what the heck, British Airways Business Class has FLAT BEDS, and they spoiled me rotten! I will never forget sleeping on my side, upstairs, on a teacher's salary. Thank you, BA for the free upgrade!!!!

So, wally - Do you recommend the forward-facing aisle "bed" or the backward-facing window "bed"? Does it feel funny facing backwards in a plane? Since Southwest Airlines has retired all its 737-200, very chance to sit in a plane backwards.

hi carol: i like 15a upstairs on the ua 747 to bkk. its the exit row, next to the window with the great storage space next to your seat. no seat in front of you that will infringe on your space.

On Delta 767 seating for overseas flights to Europe, the seating is 2-2-2 up front in Business Class(there is not a first class for European flights). I would pick either 2,3 or 4 A/B or 2 F/G for my favorite seats. They are windows and aisles and all away from the galley or lavs.Each seat has its own video along with the ability to recline into many varied positions.

How many of you are traveling? If traveling alone, I prefer one of the 2 aisle seats in the center section of the 2/2/2 configuration on the 763. That way if someone is sitting next to you, you won't disturb each other when one of you has to get up.

Yes, travelling alone. I think I prefer the last row as I don't like people sitting behind me but want to make sure it's not too loud or is limited in its recline.

Rkkwan I had 63J which is a forward facing seat next to the isle. With the Emergency door in front of me, I could have been 7 feet tall. The window seat does sit (sleep) facing the back. I divider comes up and goes down between the two seats in case the two want privacy or want to talk. But with the drinks I had in me, I'm sure I could have slept facing the back.

BTW, has anyone ever had a flight where the pilot saids, "I need to remind everyone that you are not allowed to sleep on the floor." Qantas and South African Airways both said this.

The last row (6) is right in front of the mid galley and there is a lav on the right side behind 6 F and G. 6 A and B are kitty corner from the mid galley too. I am still recommending for a "dark and quiet spot"to chose 3 through 5 seating!

Now I am confused??? Are you sitting in Business (too) for your international flight because that is what I thought that you were asking about? Most of the domestic first class seating only involves about 4 rows these days unless its a 757 aircraft. Just a reminder-the last row of seats in first class domestic usually have the economy bulkhead behind them that can have small children screaming sitting there!
