Best Airline from London to SE Asia?
We're planning on going to Thailand, Bali and Lombok this August/September for our honeymoon and were wondering which were the best airlines to do this trip from London (Gatwick or Heathrow). I looked on the internet for a list of 'best airlines' hoping there would be some surveys (frequent flyers) but had a difficult time (most airlines on lists I found were internal US airlines).
Anyone out there have any experience in this area?
Gratefully,
Rosalie

Thai Airways is very good. They fly from London to Bangkok and from Bangkok to Denpasar (Bali). I also like Cathay Pacific.
Other good Asian airlines are Eva Air (they fly London - Bangkok, but you would have to connect in Taipei to get to Bali), Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines.

Ted, if you and I are both on a Thai flight who gets the extra legroom?? You got the extra legroom, 300+ others didn't. Sorry, but you can't judge an airline of getting extra legroom seats near the exits.
If you plan on doing Thailand and Bali then yes, routing wise Thai is very good, they have daily BKK-Bali. But if you plan on visiting Southern Thailand, beaches etc then Singapore Airlines or Malaysia are good, and both have flights onwards to Bali. Singapore Airlines have seat-back TVs on all flights to/from UK and most on the Bali sector. Thai Airways as yet do not have seat-back TV's.
Eva air excellent, for just over 100 pounds extra you can choose 'deluxe economy', extra leg room, extra wide seats, but you would have to route Bangkok-Taipei-Bali.
Do note that 'Bali' is logged in all airline computers as 'Den Pasar'(the airport). So if you are browsing airline sites put in 'Den Pasar' for Bali. Enjoy.
