Barcelona Connection Time

Hello~

I'm considering buying tickets for our upcoming trip to Spain from Continental.

Coming home, we'd fly from Malaga to Newark, with a connection in 90-minute connection time in Barcelona.

We'll be on Spanair from Malaga to Barcelona, then Continental from Barcelona to Newark.

Is this connection doable? We land in Barcelona around 9 am, depart at 10:30 am.

I don't believe there are other flights out of Barcelona to Newark that day, either, so obviously, if the Spanair flight is late, we're stuck.

What would you do? Thanks in advance!

Get the Iberia flight at 7 arriving 8.25

Thanks, flybob.

But if I book a separate earlier ticket with Iberia, then I'll be out of luck if it's late and I miss my transatlantic flight with Continental, right?

Sure but it is the same with Spanair, except that you have an extra 35 minutes and Iberia, the National airline and not a budget one, is in my opinion a far better risk. If you are still concerned go up the night before

Interesting.

I'd assumed that since Continental was selling both legs of the trip, they'd be responsible if Spanair was late. You know what they say when one assumes!

I appreciate your help.

Interesting indeed, NanBug. I looked up on CO's website, and that Spanair flight (JK 6673) is marketed as a codeshare flight by the following carrier(s):
(LH) Lufthansa 2515
(SK) SAS 9808
(US) US Airways 5541
(UX) Air Europa Lineas Aereas 3870

Since Air Europa is one of CO's alliance, that's why CO can sell you a ticket on that flight.

I don't know for sure 100%, but I think if you purchase this ticket via CO, you should be "protacted".

Thanks, yk. That's what I thought originally...I should just call CO and ask them.

By the way, your Spain trip report has been really helpful to me while planning this trip, so thank you for taking the time to write it all down!
