BA On-Line Check In: Itinerary or Flight?
I'll be checking in on BA for a DFW-LHR-BUD itinerary. For the first time, having dropped off BA's radar, I do not have advance seat assignments.
I have been unable to get an answer from BA regarding on line check in. (I thought it a simple question. Perhaps that's the problem with the questioner.) When I check in and get boarding passes 24 hours before the first flight, will I also be able to get seat assignments and boarding passes for the continuing flight, some 37 1/2 hours away?
Or, will I have to get on line again and get the second set of boarding passes 24 hours before the second flight?
Many thanks for your help with this.

How are you calculating the 37.5 hrs? If you're on one ticket and are taking for ex BA#192 connecting with #866, you have a 6 hr layover in LHR, but should be able to print boarding passes for both segments at the first checkin.

Thanks to you both. The itinerary is BA192 connecting to BA 868 at 1400 on the following day. I'll expect to print out the boarding passes at 24 hours before departure. If I cannot do that for both flights, I will advise.

Unless things have changed since May 2007, you will not be able to print your boarding passes for the onward flight so far in advance. When BA says 24 hrs, they mean it.
We had a 30hr layover (sold as a married ticket) in London last year en route to Nairobi and I tried. There was no way the OLCI would allow me to do it, so I called them, whined, cried, wheedled, but nothing worked. They stood firm. Beaten, I was planning on using the internet from our hotel at the 24 hour mark. Which would have been a pain, but what else can you do?
In the end the plane to LHR was 11 hrs delayed leaving Vancouver (home), so when they were rebooking everyone's forward flights (which wasn't necessary for us) I insited that they issue our LHR-NBO boarding passes early. They did, guess they were in an accomodating mood due to the masive delay.
What REALLY irritated me though was our outbound flights back home. Just how did they expect us to do this 24 hrs prior when we were in the bush on safari 24 hrs before the flight? The internet where we were hadn't worked in four days apparently. So I waited patiently until we got back to Nairobi, only to realize that Nairobi was suffering from a 4 hour power outage - about half of the city we were told. So, again I waited, and then when I finally got on the internet at the hotel, it was too slow loading I guess and I could not access BA's sight.
We didn't get our seats until we got to the airport unfortuantely. Both our flights were jam-packed and there were only a few seat choices left, but we did manage to at least sit together.

<i>will I also be able to get seat assignments and boarding passes for the continuing flight, some 37 1/2 hours away? </i>
The OP has about the same long layover - his second flight is 37 1/2 hrs from the start of his first flight - minus the 8 or 9 hours it would take to get from DFW to LHR, would be about 28 or 29 hours.

Jeff - I really don't think you're going to have a problem. Our daughter recently flew BA from IAH-LHR-ATH with a 3.5 hr layover at LHR. She was able to print passes for both flights 24 hrs before departure from IAH with no difficulty.

I was quite interested in reading all the postings since we will be in a somewhat similiar situation this coming April. We leave MIA, 4/15/09 on BA#206 arriving at LHR at 0635, 04/16; then transfer to BA#866 going to Budapest. Since we will be in the air on the morning of 4/15 (making our way to MIA) we will not be able to print the boarding pass for the Budapest flight. Perhaps we could print out both BA flights at the same time?
