BA is this a good price
I am just about ready to book my flight from SEA to LHR on BA for October trip for $967.33. I have been watching the fares for a couple months now and this is the lowest I have seen. Should I risk waiting to see if it goes any lower, or not take the chance and just go with this. This seems like a pretty good price. Also, the last time I flew BA I was able to get seat assignment at the time of booking, but my understanding now is that you have to wait 48 hrs. before departure?? Does this mean everyone on that plane is going crazy trying to get seat assignments at the last minute. Are there are any tricks or advice you can give me to help assure getting an aisle seat, or at worse, a window seat? I cannot fathom sitting in the middle of the 3 seats, or worse, the middle of the middle for that long flight. Any advice you can give will be much appreciated.

Barb,
Try one of the multi-site grabber companies such as sidestep or kayak to validate your pricing. As far as seating goes, the best bet is to read the BA website carefully. If you want to validate your seat quality, go to www.seatguru.com . They are not perfect, but far better than guessing. There are also some fare predicting websites out there. Try googling with a fare prediction header and see what you find. I'm not so sure how well they do on interational routes. |
I went directly to the BA website. I really would prefer to fly nonstop SEA-LHR. I know I can get cheaper flights, but it would be with a stop(s). I use seatguru all the time, but it's not the choice of seats I am concerned about, more can I get the seat choice I want with only 48 hrs. before the actual flight. I am just used to being able to get my seat assignment at the time of booking. That sounds like I am really spoiled - I'm really not.

Well I just went for it. I'm just not checking it again and if it does go down, oh well. I'm happy with that price. So... any tips on how to get an aisle seat?

Check in on-line at the earliest possible time and get your seat assignments then. That means exactly 24 hours before flight time.

As noted, the magic hour is 24 not 48 hrs before flight. Our experience is limited, but we've had pretty good luck getting decent seat choices at checkin. Can't offer any real tips.
