arranging 9 am to 3 pm stay at CDG hotel
We are arriving at CDG at 7:55am and will not be able to check into our apartment in Paris until 4 pm. Someone has suggested that we arrange to stay at one of the airport hotels for this period. Does anyone have suggestions for how to go about this, and which hotels might be amenable to it?

The Novotel, Hilton, and Sheraton all offer rooms by the hour. I think the Imbiss might as well. You just walk into one of those hotels (all are located at the airport) and tell them you want a room for a few hours. It's that easy.
I stayed in the Novotel for a few hours when I had an insanely long layover due to me missing a connecting flight because my flight from ATL arrived so late. Worth every penny. All that being said, be prepared for several people to come in and say that you should just go into Paris and walk around for those 8 hours. |
Thanks, sparkchaser. That's just the info I needed.

By the time you get through entry formalities, retrieve your bags and ride into the centre of the city, it will be close to noon. You can ditch your bags at Gare du Nord and explore, or relax over a long lunch. Your apartment management might open up an hour or two early, and even with an extra fee it will cheaper than a hotel day-rental.
Predictable? I suppose so, but even sleep-deprived I'd rather be in central Paris than in anonymous Charles de Gaulle. |
I agree w/ Southam. If your were landing at 5AM - maybe. But at 0800 -- you won't even be on the RER until 9:30 or later and in central Paris around 10:30 - or later. There is left luggage at Gare du Nord.
Lave your bags and have a nice long lunch, walk along the Seine, whatever. Return to the station to retrieve your luggage and head to the apartment. |
Meh, I'd rather grab a shower and a nap than walk around for a few hours in a sleep-deprived fog because when I'm tired is when I do stupid stuff like give money to scammers who need "just one Euro for a train ticket".

My last trip to Paris, I took advice and stayed up all day that first day, altho I arrived 8am. Walking around the city of light would put stars in your eyes and help you feel almost normal for day number two. I'm returning next April and plan to repeat this way to battle jet lag, so I'd vote to get into Paris by all means. Enjoy!
I also agree w Southampton that, if you say S,il vous plait, your apt agent may help you out. It happened to me. |
