Anyone ever travel Space Available on Military Aircraft?

Retired miliary ( RETIRED--as in over 20 years service) can fly space available on military aircraft. some of the largest aircraft ( C5 Gal,C17) take as many as 73 or more passengers to the same destination as their mission cargo and its all free execpt for immigration fee or lunch. Something to look into if you are in that catagory. I go to Europe and Asia several times a year .

With all the base closings, it is not as available as it once was. But if you live near a base that has the capacity, and have the time to wait a few days if you get bumped, its a great deal, even if the landing facilities are not convenient to tourist points.

Wouldn't this be sort of singing to the choir/stating the obvious? I don't think I've ever known a retired military member who didn't know about this.

We flew Space-A many times during the DH's 8 years of active duty, including the C5's and the C141's -- nothing like traveling with two toddlers under two in rope sling seats on a cargo plane.....
