Sue: I don't have any C3 bookings but talking to friends who do, there are three scenarios I know of. In two cases, trips were booked for travel within the next month through a travel agent using a tour operator (Signature). These people have already been contacted by their agents. Signature obtained alternate air space for the one couple (Mexico), the other couple was booked for Hawaii, but no air was available so they were offered an alternate destination or a full refund. The third couple had booked directly with C3 for Florida. Their story may not have a happy ending as it's my understanding that they join the list of unsecured creditors and may, sometime, get a fraction of their initial expenditure. All of this just reinforces my belief that good travel agents should be cherished. (No, I'm not one, but truly appreciate what ours has accomplished over the years.) I'm not sure where you are from but here's the TICO site (Ontario) that gives some indication of how reimbursement should proceed:
http://www.tico.on.ca/Gateway/TICO/NewsRoom/canada3000/canada3000.html
Just a thought Sue. You may get more responses if you post in the Canada forum.

Hi Sue,
I am a travel agent. I just wanted to let you know what was going on.. You're agent is probibly confused, because there is not a lot of information that we have at this time. For clients that are booked on Canada 3000 Holidays, which is bankrupt, we are trying to figure out how to get money back from them. Our agency, if client paid by cash, is refunding client out of our bank account, or trying to book them with another company. visa, Mastercard is charged directly through the tour operator, so the only thing we can tell those clients to do is to call the credit card company and have them try to get the money back. The card companies aren't talking to agents, so we can not help the client in this process. Bert said that some of his friends have been reprotected. His friends were probibly booked through Conquest or Signature. These tour operators were using Canada 3000 Airlines for thier packages, but have been able to secure other charter companies such as Skyservice and Air Transat to serve thier destinations. For clients who dono't want the alternative air, or it isn't going to the origional destination, they are offering full refunds. I have some clients that alternative air is not available to there destination, and really all I can do is to tell them to wait for the moment if they still want to go. It isn't that your agent doesn't want to do anything, she probibly told you to wait because that is what the tour operators are instructing us to do.
I suggest you find out which tour operator you are booked through because, credit card companies are only refunding for bankrupt companies, not ones who happened to use Canada 3000 airline.

Hi Melissa,
Thanks for your response. Its been a very confusing couple of weeks. every time i phone my scotia visa i am told a different story. basically bottom line with scotia visa is you have to wait until the original date of departure, then just need to fill in a form. so i talked (and got the name) of a supervisor today and she reassured me i will get reimbursed, but have to wait until dec 22. this is their policy. apparently most of other visa companines are reimbursing already, and yes i know signature was also. well now my tour operator is also bankrupt (canada 3000 holidays)! i am so scared about every booking anything again after what i've been thru.

Hi Sue,
Visa is being the hardest, my clients booked through master card and amex are already refunded, and visa is telling them to wait, which is bad because who has an extra $3000 laying around to rebook. I know this is frustraiting, for us all, but I really hope you do not get too discouraged. Air Canada Vacations might be a safe bet for rebooking, because if Canada is saving any airline, my bet would be on Air Canada. Of course I am an expert on destinations, and not the finances of other companies.
