American Airlines 777 - No personal entertainment screen?

Just booked a flight on AA JFk to LHR. It's a wide body 777, yet the customer service agent I spoke to said there were no personal entertainment screens. Could this be true? Seems strange. Thought that all wide body planes had them. Guess not.

Not strange. Many airlines still don't have them. Widebodies have been around for 40 years, but personal video screens only about 20 and never became "standard equipment".

The rep misspoke. AA's 777s all have personal IFE. It's the 767s (also wide-bodies) that still use overhead screens in coach.

American is not known for having the best selection of videos. However, they should have an editied Disney film on individual screens.

American is not known for having the best selection of videos.

Spoken from a position of great knowledge as usual.

Here's the 777 in-seat lineup for the week of May 10 on the "new releases" menu -

An Education
Avatar
Couples Retreat
Crazy Heart
Did You Hear About the Morgans?
Everybody's Fine
Extraordinary Measures
Hachi - A Dog's Story
Invictus
Planet 51
Sherlock Holmes
The Blind Side
The Book of Eli
The Fantastic Mr. Fox
The Lovely Bones
The Men Who Stare at Goats
The Young Victoria
Tooth Fairy
Up in the Air
When in Rome

There are another 20 or 30 movies in "Classics," "Foreign," Kids" and other categories.

If you want to settle this fairly easily, I suggest you visit
www.seatguru.com

They will tell you lots of information, such as video type, seat width and length, as well as which seats are "better" and which seats are "worst", based on their ratings. Simple, free sight to use for most airlines in the world.
