American Airlines

How is business class on AA, we are flying to Rio in December but have never used AA business before. How much room do you have seat wise, thanks, J.

Depends on your route. AA flies 767s from Miami and 777s from JFK. Vast legroom on both planes; 777 seat wider than 767, but there's a (small) chance that you may get one of AA's recently-reconfigured 767s, with their "next generation" lie-flat business seats, but low odds (only a couple planes have been made over so far.) If so, that would be the choice, but total crapshoot.

Most people feel that the business class service on the 767s is superior to that on the 777s, since there's no First Class on the 767s, hence more attention is paid to business class pax (777s have FC as well as business.) I don't know - we've generally had excellent service regardless.

Both MIA and JFK flights are overnight in both directions, so I'd personally go with the 777 seat for the greater width, but that's just me.

The business class seats in American's 767 are not very wide, and have rigid sides. On the other hand, they do have a nice foot rest.

The food is great!

Just flew AA 767-300 Business/First Class non-stop DFW to HNL and back. We found the seats to be very comfortable, the leg rests great, good food and I couldn't even reach the seat back in front of me there was so much room between seats.

The movies screen was on the front cabin wall and was pretty poor quality. The headsets were terrible and hurt. So they lose a few points there.

Overall, really good flights.

Hope this helps...

Debi, didn't they give you the Bose headseats? They do on the trans-Atlantic flights I've been on.

Gardyloo Oct 21st, 2006 06:13 AM

No Boses on domestic service. BYOBose.

DebitNM,

On 767 international flights business class gets a personal DVD player with about 20 disks, including some new movies, some old classics, National Geograpic and kids programming. The DVD comes with BOSE noise reduction headsets.

The same 767 does not get the players, so you can't compare domestic/international 767 service in front.

Reporting from Nasca, Peru.....we did the Nasca lines flyover tour today. Very fascinating!!!

Going back to Lima tomorrow.

it should have been

the same 767 on domestic routes does not get the players in the front.

<< sigh >>I know -- we sure didn't get Bose or personal DVD's! ...otherwise it was an excellent flight both ways.
