Airport showers

How many of you take showers in the airport?

After a 6+ hour flight, a quick shower washes away the travel funk and revitalizes me.

Didn't even know showers were available.

Best shower I had was in first class lounge at Doha Airport. If I preferred I could of taken a spin in the 10 person (apprx) whirlpool in the bathroom. The shower room was fabulous.

I often have a shower. Coming from Australia the flights are so long as we live so far away from everything.

@abram: not all airports have them but I think all major airports do. Some are available to anyone and some are only available in the lounges.

The last shower I took in an airport was two weeks ago. I flew FRA-PIT via YYZ and used my 4 hour layover at YYZ to grab a shower at the Maple Leaf Lounge.

Airport showers: another reason to have status with an airline alliance.

I wouldn't bother after only a 6 hr flight.

But I have used the showers at Heathrow after an overnight flight Seattle to London, before continuing on another flight to Geneva. That was sooooo worth it! The ones I used were public, for a set fee you got a towel, packet of soap, use of a private bathroom with shower for certain amount of time.

Every time at EWR when I fly IAH-EWR-HKG or vice versa, if/when I have access to the CO/UA clubs.

I took a shower once in Denver Airport...public not club.

I had a job interview outside Denver. I flew from Newark to Denver in sweats. Got to the airport, ran to the shower and freshened up. Changed into my suit and heels. Grabbed a cab to the interview...asked the cab driver to come back for me in 2 hours. Back to the airport, jumped on the flight back to Newark.

I did NOT get the job.

I use airport showers quite a bit, usually in the Red Carpet Club in Narita, or at Changi Airport in Singapore, a few times in the Koru Lounge in Auckland. The Star Gold lounge in Changi doesn't have showers (the SIA lounge does), but you can get one in the Transit Lounge for SGD$10. Worth every penny. You can get a massage there too, which spouse usually does.

Just yesterday I researched shower facilities in Auckland for someone w/o lounge access - they've got them in the arrivals area of the international terminal - $10 deposit for the towel at the I Site just past Immigration, no charge for the shower. That'll feel pretty good after a 13 hour flight.

I have only done it twice...once in Korea - It was a great facility - did not pay very much it was after a flight from LAX...and knew I would not be getting a shower for a very long time as I was headed continuing to Chang Mai... and had a long day ahead of me.

Another time..we were flying from LAX-DFW- Paris and were re-routed in DFW to Santiago Chile (true story) to get to Paris...and again...it was in a lounge. It was not as nice of a facility but the airport in Seoul was might have been the nicest I have ever been in...

I have used airport showers in business class lounges a few times prior to long overnight flights that did not start from home. It makes for a much more civilized travel experience. I have always found the facilities to be well looked after.

I fly from Honolulu to Bangkok by way of Narita a few times every year. I actually choose connections that are at least 2 hours long, so that I can take a shower in the lounge! I find the shower just makes the flight much more bearable, especially when I arrive in (hot) Bangkok and have to transfer to my hotel.

The showers in Newark are nice too, especially since they either precede or follow a 10 hour flight from Hawaii!
