If issued Pyjamas onboard do you get to keep them?

If you hand them back, it means you get a second hand pair... not that I would wear them, but I was just wondering.

The pajamas you get on BA have been cleaned/laundered and packaged in plastic bags, same as the blankets/quilts, headphones, any other reusables issued during flight. The pajamas are collected before landing.

It depends on which airline and what class you are flying. We flew First Class on Cathy Pacific and were given a real nice pair of pj's that we could keep.

Do people really go into the airplane bathroom and change out of their clothes and into pajamas that the airline gives out? Do lots of people do it?

(Sorry but I've never done any longer haul flights more than USA to Europe, like to Asia or Australia where this might come up.)

RoamsAround is correct that it depends on the airline: Lufthansa lets you keep the pj's, but JAL (if they still offer them) asks for them back. I've only seen them offered in first class.

Yes, suze, people do go into the bathrooms and change. For people who wear business clothes, the pajamas (they're actually lightweight sweaters and pants) allow them to keep their other clothes more presentable whan they arrive.

that's exactly what i was thinking. it wasn't about wearing the loaned out pajamas (but thanks for that answer), and i CAN certainly see the value of that for business travelers, it was about the floor of the bathroom stall on airplanes and changing your clothes in that space!!! maybe it's better up there in 1st class

In first class on many non-US airlines, the flight attendants clean the bathrooms regularly throughout the flight. On some Asian carriers (Asiana and ANA, for two), the F bathrooms are cleaned after each use.

Some airlines (Thai and JAL) also provide a platform that you can put down and use while changing, eliminating the need for any part of you (clothed or not) to touch the floor.

You will not find these features on the US carriers who offer their own version of First Class (United and American).

I had a FA (off duty) once tell me, Dear God don't ever go to the restroom in bare feet! However I have gone wearing the sox from the amenities kit.

Airlines actually hand out pajamas?? I've definitely been in the back of the plane on those flights!

While it makes sense, I would think it would just be easier to pack your own comfy clothes or pajamas for the flight.

I'm pretty hard to gross out (I spend a lot of time in a horse barn), I simply can't imagine walking into an airplane bathroom wearing just socks (that I would want to keep) or barefoot. Even with the throwaway socks from BA, I think I'd want to put my shoes back on first.

Qantas had them 2 years ago in business class. I don't know if they still do. They were a lightweight cotton long sleeve t-shirt plus lounging pants. They didn't ask for them back. The only problem was they only had XL on that flight.

You can minimize the problem of a dirty floor by standing on the seat.

If I can afford those real international 1st fares, I'll bring a maid. She'll go clean the floors and wipe down the toilet before I go in.

I think many people missed the part where F bathrooms, at least on those airlines that hand out PJs, are kept clean throughout the flight. That said...

Perhaps the floor became soiled when someone was doing exactly that.
