Airfare spike

I've been looking into flights to Bonaire, and they've gone up over $100 in the past 2 days. Any idea why this might be? Do you think they'll go higher, stay the same, or come back down? Could it have something to do with people buying trips as Valentine's gifts?

You don't mention when you're looking to travel.

Sorry...travel is for last week in March. Fares were 668, now the same flight is 776. See my thread in the Caribbean section for my theory on the fare spike :)

My belief is that prices go up starting a month or two before the date of the flight. They know that most people have made commitments by then and are under pressure to get the tickets. They'll probably keep going up and really peak the day before the flight.

Because you are getting greedy? Fares tend to to UP as you get closer to a departure date, not down. At this point, I agree with Clevelandbrown... it's time to pull the trigger....

The closer to your departure dates, the higher the fares. While you're hoping for them to go down, or waiting for a sale, the planes fill up, and the fares go up.
