Aircanada carryon question

We're flying aircanada from Dallas to Barcelona. My carryon meets their requirement in one measurement, is smaller in one measurement, but is 10" where it needs to be 9" in the 3rd measurement. I've read they have gotten quite strict about such things. Has anyone had recent experience with them. Thanks for any input & advice.

They are quite strict about things.

It is difficult trying to answer questions like your’s is that you’ll often get a lot of anecdotal responses from people who tell you they have oversized carryons but weren’t stopped from taking them on board.
The problem comes if YOU happened to get stopped telling the Gate Agent or Flight Attendant that contributors on a travel forum told you it was OK won’t amount to a hill of beans.

If if you bring an oversized carryon bag be prepared to have it checked.

My friend was made to check a slightly oversized carryon.. and was charged the fee. Gate agent having a bad day is all it takes.

How is that for an anecdote?

A second-hand anecdote from someone known for laughably wrong posts in this forum ("You may not be able to use online check in with a one way ticket" -- May 26) doesn't carry a whole lot of weight.

My guess is that for everyone who has to check an oversize carry-on, there are at least 25 passengers who didn't have to gate-check them.

Is it second hand when we are traveling together and I'm standing next to her at the desk when he did it, Junior? But glad you are able to contribute a guess..

It wasn't gate-checked either..she had to pay the fee. A la Spirit Airlines. Sure, different agent or one who isn't a jerk, and it might make it..flip a coin.

Weight is also a concern. If your carry-on is heavy, cabin crew are not required to risk their backs boosting it into the overhead compartment.
