Airbus A330/4 or Boeing 777

With the Boeing 777 nine across in coach and the Airbus A330 and A340 eight across, isn't it better to fly the Airbus? This way you only need to ask one person to get up when you use the toilet. On the 777, the configuration is either 2 5 2 or 3 3 3 and you need to ask two people to get up.

No. Just get an aisle seat.

Fly a 767 and be happy.

wally34949 Mar 28th, 2005 08:05 AM

Actually, I like the 767 the best--especially when they have their own TV monitors. To Mrwunrfl, do you refuse to get out of your seat when someone else next to you needs to go?

You don't need to use the lavatories that often when you don't drink alcohol. It's part of the a overall plan for US airlines. No free alcohol = fewer bathrooms = fewer aisle = more passengers. Don't you see? :D Continetal has announced they will put only one bathroom on all its planes, and they will start converting their 777 to 5-5 seating starting this fall.

:D

[For those alarmed by my post, please note that I wrote this for wally only. ;) ]

the A330 is my favorite plane, by far! If you get an aisle seat, it's quite a nice ride.
Never flown a 340 but I would imagine the comfort levels are pretty similar. I wasn't that impressed with an AA 777.

rkkwan - you've just brought back a very bad memory! I was on a 2hr UAX flight recently with NO working lav. It was a 5:50 am flight and apparently I was too busy gulping coffee to hear the announcement about the lav (or lack thereof) prior to boarding. Now that'll teach you....

wally34949 Mar 29th, 2005 03:30 AM

Ok rkkwan, you got me. I almost believed you! I was talking to someone at Boeing this past Christmas who made the comment that the Airbus 8 across was hurting Boeing's 9 across.

Gotta go, I'm flying Continentals 757 from Berlin to Newark this summer and I got to get some "depends."

The seating across on an A 340 is the same as an A 330, A 300 or A 310. All 2 x 4 x 2

wally34949 - Why why why do you have to take Continental? You hate everything about them, so why? You like to drink onboard, you don't like the seatbelt sign to be on, you don't like 777s, you probably don't like their 757, and so on. So, why not take Lufthansa, etc...? Why torture yourself by flying CO?

I had 50,000 miles with Delta so I'm flying PBI to Rome VIA Atlanta on a 767 and returning with Continental. I've got drink vouchers for the Delta flight. At least the Continental flight isn't at night. The last time I flew them from Honolulu to Houston, they woke everyone up at 4:00 a.m. to announce, "It is illegal to drink alchol unless served to you by a flight attendant." I was being good, I drank my wine at the Honolulu airport.

I'm flying to Sydney for Christmas VIA London on BA so hopefully I will have a free flight with BA next summer.

Those frequent flyer miles--use them or you'll loose them.
