Air Tran

Has anyone ever flown with AirTran. It seems like they have reasonable prices. I will be flying from Pittsburgh or Orlando after xmas. I been trying to research different airlines. This one seems good. Just want some opinions from someone who flew with them.

Hi,
I've flown Airtran twice this year -once non-stop and once with a connection. The employees were really friendly and work hard to accomodate the passengers. The non-stop was much better since we didn't have to connect in Atlanta. When we had to connect we were delayed for over an hour each time but made our connections. Airtran waited for us and other passengers to get on before they left. They have free satellite radio and headphones and even came by a second time too see if we wanted another coffee or soda. Whenever we fly Airtran, I always choose a connection time in excess of an hour - I would do the same if it was Delta via Atlanta.

Had very good experience with Air Tran last Dec.
Trying to fly my niece and sister from Chicago to Orlando on the morning that Chicago got 15" of snow (try explaining that to a 5 year old on her birthday, that she is NOT going to "the happy place").

Air Tran worked with me to re-book them on the first flight they thought would actually go to Orlando. They got in at midnight, but my niece got to WDW. No flights ever left out of o'hare that entire weekend.

Air Tran went above and beyond to save this vacation. (and yes, we only bought the tickets with them because they were alot cheaper than everyone else).

Air Tran appears to have awful computer technology. We have had several instances of them not being able to find an existing reservation in the computer. And last February we got on a plane to find 3 people in our seats - we each had boarding passes for the same seats. Air Tran was reduced to having to use paper passenger manifest to figure it out.

That said, they were excellent in resolving the situation - which required them to pay 3 people to get off the plane.

the only really special thing about AirTran is that they have 100 XM Radio channels in each seat. [See my response to your "JetBlue" post] Southwest on the same route has extra legroom and leather seats.
I can't stand US Airways service.
