Air terminals with rail stations connected
I am trying to determine if I can get a train from either the Munich or Rome airports without having to travel into the city using a bus, metro, or cab to get to a rail terminal. For instance in CDG I can get a train that allows me to continue on to another destination without leaving the airport complex. Is this option available to me in either Munich or Rome?
THANKS |
Have you looked at either airport's website? Both clearly answer your question.
( yes ) |
There is a train station (S Bahn) at MUC if that is what you are asking.

janisj, no in my non-thinking brain (w/o morning coffee) I forgot about the airport websites. Thanks for the reminder and the answer.
Sparkchaster, yes that was the question I was asking and better yet you've given me the name of the station. Both of you thanks very much! |
At the Munich airport there will be signage showing the way to the train station.

Happens to all of us now and then :) |
Since you're asking about getting to a "rail terminal", I assume your final destination is not Rome or Munich. There's a big difference between the rail service at FCO and MUC, when compared to CDG. At CDG T2 is a TGV station where you can get direct highspeed long-distance trains to places like Brussels and Lyon without having to go into Paris or switching trains.
Not so with FCO or MUC, MUC is only served by S-bahn, which is similar to the RER in Paris. FCO is served by the super-slow-mo Leonardo Express to Termini, as well as another regional route. No long distance or highspeed trains from either airport. But the good news is that both Munich and Rome are served by ONE main rail station, so you CAN connect to all long-distance trains; unlike Paris, where different rail terminals serve different destinations. |
Thanks for the additional info rkkwan. I am rethinking my routing and will probably use Frankfurt as my change point from air to rail.
