Air Pacific airlines
Will be taking air pacific to Fiji from L.A.
How was the service and overall expirence? I have been taking American airlines and they have been cutting back on Everything!!!! Thanks, Mike |
Well, it's not like you have many choices. Only non-stops are Air Pacific and Air NZ. Air Pacific is partially owned by Qantas, and I don't think they can be that bad.

My husband and I flew Air Pacific LA > Fiji four years ago. We had a great experience. Food was good, service was good, plane was comfortable. It was a while ago, so things may have changed, but I'd definitely fly them again.

I forgot to mention: on the way home, our flight left Fiji an hour late due to mechanical issues with the plane. We missed our connection at LAX, but the Quantas folks took good care of us and gave us first class tix on the next AA flight home. You deal with Quantas in the US and they have good customer service.

Air Pacific is comparable to EVA air or to Hawaiian Airlines. Much better then any US carriers, economy class service. From LAX, you will get a ex Singapore Air 744(Either 9V-SMB or 9V-SMD). Economy has personnal PTV in each seat, but no AVOD. Seat pitch is 32 inches with a footrest. Seat pitch could be better, but when compared to United's 31 inches or Qantas's 31 inches, its better. You will receive an overnight amenties kit. Kids get a Captain Bula Kit. Food is okay, not great. Service is okay to great. It depends on the crew you get. Very friendly staff. The biggest perk is an opportunity to seat on the upper deck in economy class. I have flown on their 744 aircraft 3 times in the past 2 years and never encountered any delays. Flights always arrived 15-20 mintues ahead of schedule. You can also upgrade to their business class (Tabua Class) for around $650 USD each way. Enjoy your tirp to FIji.
