Air India to Europe??
Can anyone give me their experience in flying Air India? I'm thinking of using them to fly from NYC to Paris, because I can get two tickets with fewer points on Air India than any others. How is this airline on an overnight Transatlantic flight? Thanks for any input.

I've not tried them transatlantic, though Mrs F has and found them OK.
I've used them from Britain to India, where their timekeeping record is poor, because they frequently seem late arriving from the US. The food's surprisingly mediocre: the kind of boring curry you used to get out of a packet (on ex-UK flights, they assume everyone prefers Indian food, so I really don't know whether they serve western food, though I imagine they would if you ask. But why would you?) I found the staff terrific: helpful and civilised in the middle-aged favourite auntie sort of way you sometimes get on KLM, SAS or BA, but practically nowhere else. Some people have complained about those snooty young flibbertigibets you often do find flight attending on Third World airlines until they marry some other idler, but I've never encountered them. Otherwise, it's just a 747. A tad shabby, but it's only 7 hours. |
Hello Flanner: Thank you for all that info. More than I asked, but worth knowing it all. Air India sounds all right to me, and the price is right.

Try Jet Airways. They fly to Brussles from NYC everyday and codeshare with Brussles airlines that will take u to Paris. Jet is the best!!!
Air India .... goodluck!!! they have a reputation for being awful locally here in India and i haven't travelled with them in over 6 years. Never on time. |
In my experience, not great. Terrible in flight entertainment, delays, uncomfortable seats. Agree with Hari re trying Jet.
