Air Fare Sales for Winter Travel

I know that there is no way to know this for sure, but do folks think there will be air fare sales to Europe for winter travel? I know this summer there was a sale, but I figured come fall their would be some sales for Jan/Feb travel. so far fares keep just going up. any thoughts?

No way to know, as you say, but last year there was a sale in November for post-holidays winter travel.

There are always sales but the timing varies. Lufthansa just finished one a couple of weeks ago for travel into February, so it's not too late. But November is a pretty safe bet. American is likely to have a sale to try to win back customers.

Thanks, Doug. I did see the Lufthansa one and thought others would follow suit. I've looked a few times at the UA flight to CDG and its really empty which is giving me hope that other other flights are the same and this will force a sale. I usually grab the first sale that has decent fares, but this time I thought, its summer, they'll have a better one for the winter...

Just announced by Delta:

Book before October 26, 2012, to save on flights to select European destinations when you travel between January 21 and February 28, 2013. Additionally, you can enjoy these same fantastic fares on flights to Paris between November 22 and December 17, 2012.

Hmmm...just looked at Delta and I guess no sale IAD to CDG unless I missed something. I got the same fare as has been coming up for weeks now, around $1,000.

Lufthansa just announced a "sale" that has the same fare as the fare has been. What's up with these sales??

Check out all current Europe sales here, http://www.travelzoo.com/airfare/europe/

Also, since the sales advertised by airlines aren't always a "sale" -- I usually check the fare calendars on Fly.com for cheap flights, http://www.fly.com/FlyWidgets/Calend...aspx?Locale=US

The calendars pinpoint the lowest priced dates from your city to a particular destination for the next 90 days.
