Air China transpacific business class

I know many Asia airlines are better than US ones for transpacific, am I right to assume Air China isn't one of them?

Just found out our UAL flight will be actually be code share using Air China. Has anyone flown Air China and provide feedback on business or first class?

I've got enough FF miles to upgrade to first class on one way, was going to upgrade on the way there as it will be husband's birthday. but I will change plan to upgrade for the Air China leg instead if its business class is not up to par. Please comment. Thanks!

If you're flying JFK-PEK non-stop, then you'll be on a Air China flight. UA only flies to PEK from ORD and SFO.

Am pretty sure that you won't be able to use your MP miles to upgrade on a partner airline. I think I would prefer to upgrade the outbound flight anyway. OP is going via ORD. United flies between Shanghai and SFO, I think, so you

so you could return on United and upgrade. But, nonstop on Air China sounds good.
