Air Baltic

We're flying from Vilnius to Tallinn (via Riga) on Air Baltic. Any comments about this airline would be welcomed. We booked our flights in December and at that time, it was a non-stop flight between Vilnius and Tallinn, however, Air Baltic has changed their flight options numerous times since we booked and everything now stops in Riga. Thanks!

Hi,

We flew on Air Baltic 2 years ago on the reverse itinerary (Tallinn to Vilnius nonstop on their turboprop Fokker 50.) My recollection is that the flight was on-time and the crew was professional. We were ticketed as a Estonian Air flight number (code share) but the aircraft and crew were Air Baltic. If you wanted the nonstop flight, I suggest you check the airline's website and see if the nonstop flight works for your schedule. I think they only have one nonstop per day. If the schedule change was drastic, they may have tried to accommodate your "time of day" preference before the nonstop option.

Always comforting to hear good words about an airline! We would have preferred a nonstop flight (which is what we initially had), however, due to the several flight changes since we booked our flight, there are no longer direct flights - everthing connects in Riga. We're locked in to traveling on a Saturday and perhaps that has something to do with the stop. Fortunately we don't deviate much from our original flight as the connection is a brief one. We have a 5am departure (ohh, that's early) from Vilnius and even with the stop in Riga, arrive in Tallinn early so as to have benefit of the day to start exploring the city.

Debs, did you take your flight? How was it? I'm finding flight prices on Air Baltic to be quite high--around 300 euros or more one way from Riga to Helsinki, or Stockholm or Copenhagen. Was that your experience? Anything else I should watch for when booking flights on Air Baltic? Thanks.

FYI I booked Air Baltic for Copenhagen-Riga, then Riga Vilnius and Vilnius Copenhagen. I figured booking in mid January would yield the lowest prices for August flights. Wrong, The prices went down this month ($10-12 per person, per segment) and Air Baltic does not honor a lower price once you've booked. Ah well.

Sorry. I seem never to be able to pick this right either. Next time.
