Advice on connecting between T4 and T8 in JFK
Hi guys, I am travelling with Delta from Dublin to JFK this Saturday and then with AA from JFK to Bermuda.
There is 3.5 hours between flights in JFK, my question is will this be sufficient? I expect that when i arrive in JFK that i will need to collect my checked bag and then proceed to T8 and check in for the AA flight, clear security etc. Will i be tight for time and what is the best way to connect with terminals? Thanks |
It should be enough time unless your inbound is very late and/or the lines are very long at immigration.
There's just one realistic way to go from T4 to T8, the AirTrain. You can take any train any direction that comes into T4 first. Three stops to T8 regardless of which direction you take. |
Ask the originating airline if your bags can be checked through to your final destination. Your US immigration check will be in Dublin.

Oh, yes, US immigration at DUB. Still have to claim bags and go through US customs. With all the bag fees now, it is unlikely DL would tag one's bags to AA on separate tickets.

Actually as I discovered fron another thread and doing a bit of research, they now do both US immigration and US customs in Dublin. Is it written on one ticket? I'm not sure as noted you can tag bags from one airline to another. But if not, you will pick up your checked luggage in NY, take the air train to T8 and re-check with AA. If the flight is relatively on time, no sweat. But if is a very short word with a very large meaning.

Good to know about expanded pre-clearance in Ireland.
