adding flights
does anyone know if an airline will add flights if the planes become full 2 months ahead of a travel date? I am looking to fly into mazatlan on the first week of august, and cannot find seats on any nonstop or 1 stop flights for a party of 7 people. I hope I didn't miss the boat by waiting so long to book, but some people didn't get their vacation time cleared till this week and now I'm a nervous wreck!

Airlines do not add flights just because the ones that are scheduled are full. Adding flights takes months of preparation by schedulers, slot assignments, aircraft availability, etc...
Your post is not really clear. Is it that you can't purchase seven tickets with seat assignment at the time of reservation or you just can't purchase seven tickets on any one flight? |
Not likely. From which city to Mazatlan?

That doesn't happen often. For one thing, airlines don't want to add a flight that might return with no or few passengers. For another, schedules are pretty tight these days and few airlines have sufficient number of planes to divert from previously assigned schedules except in some emergencies.
Where are you looking to see the flights full? If you're checking the airlines web site, these are often not very accurate (for ex., some seats are held back for FF and not released until 24 hrs prior to departure). Have you called the airline directly? |
You don't say where you're flying from. Are there that many non-stop flights to Mazatlan in the first place? Come to think of it, are there that many one-stop itineraries?
It's never ideal, but is two connections so bad? If you live in a small/medium city that might be your only choice. |
