AA To Discontinue Stansted Service

Hi,

It's official. AA is cancelling it's JFK-STN flight. We knew it was only a matter of time with EOS out of the picture.

The last JFK-STN flight is operating on 1July. The last STN-JFK flight is operating on 2JUL.

They're cutting lots of flights system-wide. The big one is actually ORD-HNL. And huge cutback at SJU. Mainline flights cut in half, and many ATRs transferring out of there.

AA also dropped ORD-EZE, and is reducing frequency and/or making some flights seasonal, e.g. ORD-FCO.

Today they also announced increases in mileage requirements and various fees associated with award travel effective October 1 (award requirements) and June 21 (award fees.) For example, US < > Europe in business class goes from 90K miles to 100K.

I'm not surprised that their dropping it. One reason they started the route was to compete with (and lead to the demise of) Eos and MaxJet, both gone now.

My departing airport is St. Louis and once AA pulled its hub we lost direct flights to Gatwick so the JFK-STN flight was a big improvement. I flew this route on both MaxJet and AA and loved it. Very easy connection, so I am sorry to see it is out of the picture.

I do appreciate this information because I had missed it. Thanks for posting freeman0819.

Sandy
