AA Lounges
 

I have read on www.airlinequality.com that in the American Airlines lounge, you need to give them a ticket which you get when you check-in, in order to obtain one free drink. Is that true at all of their lounges? I will be at JFK in June. One ticket--one drink?

That is the rule....oh, btw, they also have seat belts at every seat and you are required to wear them.

The fasten seat belt sign stays on all the time.

At CO President's Club, it's all you can drink, wally. Except for the premium wines at the EWR, IAH and CLE clubs, which cost extra, per glass.

I've read that a lot of people forget to get this drink ticket when they check in and end up paying (big bucks) for a drink in the AA lounge. So, if I am flying from Orlando to JFK and on to Barcelona, where do I get this drink ticket? Orlando or JFK.

How about on the plane. Do I pay for the second drink?

I read that people had to pay for orange juice at the AA lounge because they didn't know about the drink ticket.

There are different ways to gain entrance to Admiral's Clubs or Flagship Lounges.

AC - membership costs vary depending on status - no free drink coupons if gaining entrance with a membership card.

AC - entrance based on AA or OW status - Sapphire or Emerald - long haul international travel only on the day of travel - 2 free drink coupons - more if you need it.

AC - flying in paid J or F on AA or OW partners long haul international travel - same drink coupon rules as above.

Flagship Lounges in ORD, LAX, JFK, LHR are first class lounges. Access and open bar for Emerald status holders or anybody traveling in paid F on long haul international flights.

There are some variations to the rules above, but no need to go into it here as the above covers the basics.

You get the coupons at the clubs and they are only good at the issuing clubs on the day of travel.

European, Asian, and South American Admiral's Clubs have open bars just like Flagship Lounges in US. No coupons required.

Wally, are you <i>paying</i> for an AA business class flight to Milan? Why not go via BA, LHR, and the wonderful new Terminal 5 that will by then have solved all of Heathrow's problems? The BA lounges at JFK and LHR (and probably several in T5) will offer plenty of hooch, not to mention recorded bird songs.

I used 90,000 miles and am traveling AA in business class.

I don't put too much credence into anything that airlinequality.com says, does. Long time ago I would recommend the site if somebody wanted to know about certain airline(s) but then I have learned something about the site and won't lower myself to even looking at it and have not for about 2 years now.
