AA Flagship Lounge

Checked the AA site but it was a little ambiguous to me. I know upgrades with miles on trans-Atlantic flights opens the Admiral's Club but if you have a mileage First Class ticket (not an upgrade, a total mileage ticket) would you be able to use the Flagship Lounge where available on trans-Atlantic?

Yes, as it's considered a paid (with miles) FC ticket.
Enjoy the FL!
Dave

Thank you so much! I'll be spoiled for life now.

Just 3 months ago I used a mileage ticket (not an upgrade, a total mileage ticket) and flew First Class on AA. You bet, you will have full access to the lounge. :-)

There is one bad thing about flying Biz/First Class--next time you fly coach it will be excruciating. :-(

Which airports are you flying through?

ORD and JFK FLs are fine and you really don't have other choices, but if you're returning from LHR, skip the FL (in need os some serious refurbishment) and proceed straight to JL First Class Lounge. It's the best of the 3 available, other being CX (a long walk from AA gates). The JL lounge is just down the hallway from the 2 AA lounges.

What's the JL Lounge? My route is
STT/JFK/LHR/MIA/STT.

I've been thrilled to use miles for Business upgrades & never realized it was only 25K more miles for free first class ticket. Only got the first class because I couldn't get decent days OR flights in Business. First was wide open for 5/20-6/4.

Might be my last London trip since I'll be retiring within a year or so after this trip.

Meant that it was only 25K more miles for a free First Class ticket vs a free Business Class.

PM, you're right. I'm already spoiled. I was so bummed I couldn't get to London this year & it was the first year they had the lie-flat seats in business. This next trip will trump that.

It's very close to the AA Lounges. You will walk right by the Lounge on your way to AA Lounges. If you get to AA Lounges, you missed it. It's just down the hallway.

It's a great lounge. Enjoy!

The only problem with the JL Lounge may be the operating hours. If you have a very early morning flight, the JL Lounge may not be open.

Can you use the JL F lounge if you are flying on AA and have no OW status?
I didn't think you could.

AAFrequentFlyer Sep 11th, 2008 08:49 AM

Yes you can.

If you do not have oneworld Emerald or Sapphire tier status you are only eligible to access a lounge if you are travelling in First or Business Class, or if you are travelling in Economy on a domestic or intra-European flight to connect to or from a longhaul segment in a oneworld carrier's First or Business Class.

Flights at 9:55 AM so maybe I'll get there early enough & if both are open, I'll just check out both. It will certainly be the only time I get to do it. Thanks for the info.

I believe JL Lounge opens at noon.

The FL LHR AA Lounge is OK but it needs some work.

Have a great trip!

My head is spinning from all the abbreviations. Could someone please say what JL stands for? Thanks.

AAFrequentFlyer Sep 14th, 2008 06:36 PM

JL = Japan Airlines
