AA FAs vote down wage concessions

AA could be in Ch.11 today as the FA union voted no(just by 200 votes or so) to wage concessions. Pilot, mechanic, and ground crew unions all voted yes. This should be interesting. FA union asked AA to have another vote. AA said no, at least for now.

AA said ok to a second vote by the FA union. We will know the results tomorrow at 5pm.
Hope they do the right thing this time!

Why would the FAs want AA to go bankrupt?

AAFrequentFlyer Apr 16th, 2003 09:08 AM

This may explain 1/2 of the story. http://www.atwonline.com/indexfull.cfm?newsid=2957
The other 1/2 is the fact that FAs are saying that they gave and gave and gave over the years, and they are not willing to give any more to make up for mngt. mistakes(that's their theory, not mine).
Don't forget, if chapter 11 happens, it is not liquidation, it's just going into debt protection, so it's not like AA will cease to exist tomorrow.

AAFrequetFlyer,
How many miles do you fly each year?

AAFrequentFlyer Apr 16th, 2003 03:04 PM

AA FAs did pass the wage cuts, so it looks like AA is off the chopping block at least for now. Now if the mngt. gets their s__t together, AA will emerge as the best!!!
I only started to fly frequently about 3 years ago. 1st year it was about 25K, next, about 35K, last year 75K, and it looks like this year I will get AA Executive Platinum for doing over 100K. Since becoming Platinum, flying has been a total pleasure, and I can't wait till I get the black card at some point this year together with upgrade certs good system wide on any fare(16 of these babies the first year one qualifies). That's why I'm so happy about the outcome. GO AA!!!
