AA DFW to CDG on a 763
I'm hoping for some info on the above plane/flight. Ist of all seatguru and AA disagree slightly on where the wing starts and ends...any ideas who is right and any thoughts on where the better seating areas might be? Rows 10-12 better than way back in the 30's? I rarely fly and other than the news that I got from seatguru that this plane doesnt do the seat back screen,[that was nice on Continental flight to Rome last year] I know nothing about this aircraft. thanks....lynda

Try to reserve seats in the back. The "mini-cabin" up front is reported to offer even less seat pitch.
There are no individual screens on AA 763. There is a "communal"
screen. You will get 2 movies along with "CBS Eye on America", which includes a shorten version of 60 minutes, couple of episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond and ?.
You could check the movie schedule here:

If you show up early at the airport, ask if row 21 AB or HJ seats are available. If so, grab it. These are exit row seats with about good 4-5 inches of extra space. These could only be reserved in advance by AA elites, but if they upgrade, the seats are available to anybody between the ages of 14(?) and (?) who are capable of physically open the door during an emergency. Best seats in economy on the AA 763.
Also, AA does have power available in most seats. These are the cigarette type plugs that will power most laptops, personal DVD players, etc. If that is something that you are interested in check seatguru.com for the location of the plugs. You will need to provide your own 12V cigarette type power plug for your toy.
Have a great trip!

Cross-checking the photos on airliners.net, it seem to me that rows 10-12 are definitely in front of the wings. They are even slightly forward of the engines.
Seatguru says they may be louder engine noises, but in general I find planes are usually louder in the rear than in the front, as engine noises probably project more rearward.

Thanks for the info ya'll. I'll have to book pretty quickly as the date we want to fly, jan 30th, is filling up fast it seems. 1800 fly europe has prices 200 to 300 less [588.77pp] for 2 tickets than everywhere else so I guess I will have to commit earlier that I wanted to. I suppose the view from our seats going over doesn't really matter that much as we take off at 5:30 pm and fly into the night. quieter seats would be nice though. thanks again....lynda

You could get yourself a pair of noise cancelling headphones that do a great job of blocking out engine noise. I don't fly anywhere without mine.
No need to spend $300 for Bose. There are several brands that retail for ~$100 that are excellent, plus many others for ~$50 that I can't vouch for.
I have a 4yr old pair of Sennheisers that work great.
