AA Biz class lie flat seats

Will be flying AA 767-300 with the lie flat biz seats. I generally like the bulkhead seats for overnight flights so no one is reclining into my seat. However both seat guru and seat xpert give these seats lesser ratings due to noise from galley and bathrooms. Anyone have experience with the seats in biz class and if in fact the bulkhead is a bit noisy?

Gardyloo Aug 18th, 2008 01:42 PM

AA's new business seats are of the "shell" variety so nobody reclines into anybody else's space. http://www.aa.com/content/images/amr...77bizclass.jpg

Besides, I've never had a problem with noise from the galleys or the loos upsetting my rest in business class, but YMMV.

Also see this site for full demo of the seats:

Also, even though they are lie flat, they are not completely horizontal. They are tilted foot down; I tend to slide down on them.
They are not as good as truly flat seats (BA,CX,SQ and several other airlines). They are an improvement from older business class seats on AA.
Enjoy your trip!

Thanks, Gardyloo & Paulchili
for your help! Trip is not until Spring, but picking seats now since its with FF tixs.
Gardyloo, what is "but YMMV"

AAFrequentFlyer Aug 19th, 2008 08:40 AM

YMMV = your miles may very :-)

I like the seats. The angle does not bother me one bit.

Ah, thanks. Well, I'll be excited to try the seats for myself. Will be flying on UA new lie flat biz class in a couple months, so I can compare.

Do the 777s have lie-flat seats yet?

AAFrequentFlyer Aug 19th, 2008 09:32 PM

If you are asking about AA then yes. Don't know about UA.

Some UA 777 flights have flat beds in Biz class. Don't believe the entire fleet has been converted yet.

I have noticed the middle row bulkhead seats on our AA777 bus class seats are all available, is there something wrong with these seats, no leg room??

I just flew the JFK to Barcelona flight and Milan to JFK flight on the American 767 in Business Class. I would avoid the back rows as there are often crying babies in the first row in economy. The first row in business on the right side are pilot rest seats.

Beware, that the fasten seat belt sign was on for 7 of the 8 hours on the Milan to JFK flight.

Service was excellent but I really didn't see anything interesting on the portable video player they pass out.

Entertainment, seats and service are better with BA, IMO, but the food was just as good with American. Ice Cream Sunday--excellent.

AAFrequentFlyer Aug 20th, 2008 03:25 PM

wally,

The J seats are definitely better on BA, but unless you are willing to connect through Mexico or Canada, or the Caribbean, it's not possible to use AA miles for BA between US and UK (at least not at the moment). So in your case you would need to do 2 connections just so you can be on BA to Italy. Since you would be coming from Florida, AA to Bahamas, BA to London and then BA in what's basically an econ seat to Italy.

The service and food is equal IMHO. I had some excellent service on BA and I had some really bad service. To be honest, I never really had really bad service when flying AA in J. The wines are better on AA. The entertainment can be good or bad on either one, depending on the month.

wally, thanks for the warning about the seats in the back rows and crying babies.
