3-oz per product, or 3 oz total for liquid/gel carryon?

The wording on the TSA website doesn't seem clear to me on whether we can bring as many products that will fit into a 1-qt plastic bag, as long as there is no more than 3 oz per product, OR can we bring only a total of 3 oz tucked into the plastic bag?

Three ounces per product. Several TV spots have shown zip-loc bags with more than one container in each one.

Confirmation - 3oz per, not total.

Here's another question. Can the plastic bag be smaller than 1-quart? Probably a silly question, but don't know how particular they're being . . .

it could be 1 oz. if that's what you want...:0)

I actually got through with a 2 quart bag recently, no questions asked. I just didn't have a 1 quart bag at home, so I grabbed the one I had, a 2 quart bag.

Does anyone know about whether the 1-quart bag can be taken on European airlines? We'll be transferring from AA to Air France, and our checked luggage will go straight through--no chance to pack the stuff if necessary.

No problems today with my plastic bag filled with "stuff". In fact, they were giving away bags to those that needed one.

Thanks for info, mjz.

All I have is a travel size tube of toothpaste and wondered if I need to go buy a box of bags to have one to put it in.

I read a PR release that Wal-Mart is providing free 1-qt Ziploc bags at various USAirways' check-in counters around the country.

Could I put some vodka in a mouthwash container and mix myself a drink while I'm waiting for the flight?

Keith,
I'd put the toothpaste in a bag. My mom didn't put her lip gloss (the only gel/liquid product she had) in a bag and they took it from her at ONT this morning.

The TSA seems to think that if your ONE product is NOT in a bag it's dangerous and they will throw it away.

Also, at some airports the 2 quart bag will have you yelled at by the ever zealous ZSA.

Some airports have nicely provided 1 quart bags, but I wouldn't risk it. Go to your local grocery and buy them. (They areon sale at my Target!)

I was chastised by a TSA guy today at DET because my bag was too large (no pun intended) - 1 QUART ONLY - mine was 2 QUARTS!!!! And to make matters worse, I had non liquids/gels in the bag such as a toothbrush/floss/extra contact and lense case/glasses. TSA supervisor came over because TSA guy was overwhelmed with my bag - she quickly sent me on my way - large bag and all. I was polite, but laughing on the inside. Guess I'll grab a couple of those one quart bags and place all non gel/liquids in my shaving kit.

Don't get me started on the plethora of TSA workers that congregate in packs grunting about fantasy football picks instead of opening another line...
