175K on Delta - need 2 intl ticketd
Want some suggestions for 2 week vacation using miles in spring 2016. Thanks!
From Cols OH, possibly Europe, Asia?
If you want to get any helpful responses I would suggest adding:
1)What you like to do/see- culture? museums? food? 2)Do you want to be in a city? A beach? Trekking? 3)Have you traveled before? Places to eliminate? Places you want to see? 4)Are you wanting to stay in one place? Or move around a little? 5)Are you/your companion young backpackers or older and wanting more comforts? Simply saying Europe/Asia for 2 weeks won't entice many to reply. Europe and Asia are two different travel styles, best to narrow down what type of trip you want, and what countries you are interested in, and then post on the Asia or Europe forums. |
As a general rule the easiest place to get low mileage fares into is London.
First I would look to see where there are possiblities to use your miles. Picking a place like Paris would likely be very difficult to book with miles.
I've found Paris not all that tough for award travel ... London has always been more difficult although I hear that Virgin seats are easier nowadays. However, there still seems to be the 'only one award seat per flight' problem.
With such a wide-open question I'll just throw out Amsterdam as it's nice in the spring and as a Skyteam hub it should be among the easier destinations for DL mileage trips at that time of year.
Delta is awful for award travel, but last year I got 4 tickets into Amsterdam for 3 wks in March. Used up my miles and have dropped out of their program.

Get any European hub and then a lower cost flyer from there. For ex, I got a saver award (<60k miles) Business class Sept 2016 to Frankfurt and will get Eurowings/Germanwings or a train to where I really want to go.
Also you can book one way at a time and book a return using the same principle of "any european hub." With Delta, it's always been easiest to get into CDG. With United, Frankfurt or possibly Venice. I find Milan and Rome harder to get good tix to. |
