Zimbabwe trip booked
The trip isn't until next August, but I just had to share this with you as I am so excited to be going back to Africa. I had looked at going to Southern Tanzania or back to Zambia, but Zimbabwe caught my eye and the cost is more within my budget. Now all I have to do is wait out the next 11 months!

raelond, we are also booked to Zim for August 2012 Now just crossing our fingers and hoping the elections don't come in the way and ruin everything.
Where are you going?
We will be a group of 4. The core trip is 10 days in Mana Pools. Some of us have a 4 day pre-trip extensiion to Hwange, some have added an extra 2 days at Mana, and one person has a 4 day canoe extension at the end.
Very interested in hearing what you booked.

We have see Victoria Falls from the Zambia side, so we decided to overnight there and see it from the Zim side. Then 3 nights Imbabala Safari Camp, 3 nights Hwange at Davison's Camp, 4 nights Musango Camp which is situated on its own island on Lake Kariba overlooking Matusadona National Park, 3 nights Ruckomechi Camp in Mana Pools and 3 nights Kanga Camp which is in Mana Pools, but in Kanga Pan, not too far from Chitake Springs.

Sorry, hit submit without meaning to.
Was intending to say that it sounds like a great trip.
Just out of curiosity, does your cancellation policy make any reference to the elections?
Thanks - Sangeeta

cancellation policies normally refer to the 'travel advice' your own country gives to it's people. (at least that's how it works over here in the netherlands).
If it's not safe and your country recognizes that by giving a negative travel advice, than your insurance covers the costs.

I was in Zimbabwe in 2000, shortly after their elections and when the farm takeovers were in full swing. We had no problems in the areas we traveled (Vic Falls, Hwange, and Mana Pools.) If you're doing road transfers, you'll probably experience police roadblocks where a few dollars will exchange hands, as I experienced last year on the road from Vic Falls to Hwange and on to Bulawayo.
