Wildlife Volunteering in Africa
Can anyone recommend a good wildlife volunteer project anywhere in Africa that doesn't cost thousands? I truly want to give my time and effort to a sanctuary or conservation group who's focus is to care for and conserve African wildlife, not just big game hunts or a for profit company just looking to make money on tourists. I am very new to the "African Volunteer" world, and would love to just get my hands dirty at a very primitive, non touristy organization. Thank you for any advice you all could provide!

Hi there
Big Beyond organise wildlife, conservation and environment volunteer programmes in Uganda and Malawi, and also Ethiopia from next year too. Check out www.bigbeyond.org for more info on all of their projects and these two pages for their current wildlife conservation programmes:
Uganda:

Malawi:

There is a programme fee to join but it includes everything from accommodation and food, local transport and transfers to project management, placement design, orientation and training plus a few extras. The fee gets cheaper per week the longer you stay and you just need to budget for flights, minimal spending money, visa and any vaccinations and insurance. Call 0800 644 6203 or email [email protected]
