tel aviv airport meeting

hi all-
i love this board and you have all been so much help with various things. i just made a reservation at the maxim hotel on your recommendation. so...i am flying in on a sunday night, staying at the maxim then i need to meet my dad and a whole tour group at the airport so i can go on the tour with them. will i be able to get in to the airport via taxi without a departing ticket/boarding pass? will i be able to just go wherever people go to meet arriving passengers and meet them there? will my luggage be an issue? i need to have it with me so i can get on the bus with them and begin our journey. any info, ideas, or help would be appreciated!! thanks.

You can certainly go to the Arrivals Hall in a taxi. No problem. If anyone questions the luggage situation, you merely need to explain it as you did here!

OTOH - If you know where the bus will be parked, you would do better to go directly there.

Are you sure you have to go to the airport to meet your group?

I've been on several tours in different countries, including Israel, and every tour makes the first hotel the point of gathering, and you meet others either at dinner, or welcome drink, or the next morning on the bus.

Sorry, I don't get it, why do you want to go to the airport instead of going to the hotel? You will get in the mail (or have already?) the paperwork with the hotel's name and address.

Unless you want to meet your dad to help him? Can he take a taxi or a shuttle to the hotel?

Sorry I've never heard of a tour starting in an airport, not in a hotel.

And by the way, Maxim's area is great, say hello to the sea promenade for me

You will have a very easy time at this beautiful new airport. Taxis are very plentiful, just like here and there are fixed prices to the airport.

I would suggest you meet at Steinmetzky Bookstore in the arrivals hall. There are tables and chairs, so you can sit and read or have a snack while you wait. Tell them you will be there and anyone will direct them. Very easy -- this is how we found our driver whom we had never met. this bookstore is a major chain in Israel, like B&N.
