South Africa travel agents

Hi: We are planning to travel to South Africa, and are looking for recommendations on local (South African) travel agents who have package trips, or can make arrange for special itineraries. Any suggestions on who (and who not to) use?

DietteMB,

Where are you located? If you are in the US I will try to recommend someone in your area.

My friend and I are using Wild Wings Safaris. They are based in George, South Africa. We're travelling in July to the Kruger area, Cape Town and Vic Falls. They made all arrangements for us except our flights (internatnional and within Africa) which we booked ourselves. This saved us a little bit of money booking directly. So far so good! Will let you know how it turns out!

For the last four years I have used Leanne Zahn ([email protected]) at Ngwe Safari/Regal African Safaris (www.ngwesafari.co.za, based in Jo'burg) for safari/travel reservations in SA, Botswana and Tanzania.

Best, Steve

We useed Tanya from Africa Direct last September. She organized a fantastic wedding and honeymoon. We spent 2 weeks at 4 different lodges in the Kruger area, Camp Jabulani, Ngala Tented Camp, Elephant Plains and finished at Exeter Leadwood. We had a fantastic time, great game viewing and amazing luxury accomodations. She arranged a little something extra at each lodge which was great. Her contact detail [email protected] tell her Barry and Terry say hi.

Tanya would be a good person to work with. I am meeting her next week in Durban. She definitely knows the South Africa lodges! The only thing I would say is not to spend two weeks in the same area. If you have that much safari time for South Africa, I would go to Phinda, Mashatu, and Pafuri as well.
